A meme server dies of too many channels faster than any other kind. The layouts here are deliberately short. They have one place to talk, a couple of media channels split by what gets posted in them, and very little else.
What they do carry is a media channel with the right permissions, so images and links work for everyone without opening the whole server up. They also carry enough moderation structure to remove someone without improvising.
What these layouts carry
- A short channel list, usually under fifteen, so none of it is dead
- Media channels separated from the talking channel, so conversation isn't buried under images
- Minimal moderation with a log channel and a muted role, without a staff bureaucracy

A Discord server template is a complete layout someone has already built and published. It holds channels, categories, roles, and permissions. Applying one to a new or existing server takes a single command and saves an evening of setup.

Because that's what works. A hangout server with forty channels has thirty-eight empty ones, and empty channels make a server look abandoned to whoever joins next.
Is anything from the original server included?
No. Templates carry structure only, so no messages, images, or members come with one. The channels arrive empty.
Are templates really free?
Yes, all of them, on the free plan. Templates are contributed by the community and there’s no paid tier for using them.
Will applying a template delete my server?
No, but it replaces the channels and roles with the ones in the template. Run /backup create first and you can undo it.
Do templates include messages or members?
No. A template only carries structure. Nothing personal from the original server is published with it.
How do I publish my own?
Create a template in your server’s own settings, under Server Template, then paste the link into the submit form here. You choose the name and description in Discord, and the category on the form.

A backup is private to your account and can include messages and member data. A template is public, structure only, and anyone can use it.
Is every template checked before it appears?
Yes. A listing has to name and describe the server it actually offers. Anything with no place in a public gallery is refused, so a template called "test" with an empty description never reaches the listing.
