A chatlog goes deep on one channel where a backup goes wide across the server. A backup spends its message budget across every channel; a chatlog spends all of it on the one you run it in, so a busy support or announcement channel keeps more of its history. Chatlogs are stored on your account, listed by /chatlog list, and removed only when you delete them.

Creating a chatlog

Save the recent messages in this channel. The bot replies with the chatlog id, which is what you need to load or delete it later.

/chatlog create message_count before

message_count optional

The number of messages to save. Defaults to the most your tier allows.

Default: 0 / 250 / 500 / 1000
Max: 0 / 250 / 500 / 1000

before optional

Where to start reading backwards from. Accepts either a message id or the id of an existing chatlog. Passing a chatlog id picks up where that one stopped, which is how you archive a channel further back than one chatlog reaches.

Loading a chatlog

Repost a saved chatlog into a channel. Messages go back through a webhook, in order, with the original author names and avatars.

You can find your chatlog ids with /chatlog list.

/chatlog load chatlog_id message_count

chatlog_id required

The id of the chatlog you want to load. You get this when you create one, and /chatlog list shows them all.

message_count optional

The number of messages to load from the chatlog. Defaults to the most your tier allows.

Default: 0 / 250 / 500 / 1000
Max: 0 / 250 / 500 / 1000

Deleting a chatlog

You can find your chatlog ids with /chatlog list.

/chatlog delete chatlog_id
